Nashville's Looking Good!

So, it's been a couple of weeks since the Showdown finals and I'm still on cloud nine....but I have been pretty busy meeting with labels, agencies...lots of people that could be very very important to me in the future.  Now I'm trying to focus on what will be best for me, my career, and my friends and family.  Its just crazy how things are working out...not just with music but with my life.  For instance, my dog Mimi is currently 7 lbs and she just keeps getting cuter and cuter...I mean, I guess she takes after her mother (me, of course).  Now, something else that is going well...I'm pretty sure that myself and skinny jeans are now friends...actually we're bff's.  I used to hate on skinny jeans so bad...and now, I just can't get enough of them.  "Can't stop till you get enough." I still haven't been able to meet Carrie...but I did have a dream that I met her the other night and I'm pretty sure that's a sign.  Woot!  Oh, I have enough Colgate toothpaste to last me a lifetime...aaand I may or may not have the new travel little toothbrush that you can carry in your purse and use after meals....GOLDEN!  Lastly, I'm writing a ton right now and I put up a lot of new songs on www.karladavismusic.com under the music tab...just click soul sessions and let me know what you think!  Oh oh, be sure to check colgate's website for a list of dates of when the Colgate Country Showdown will be aired in your area!!!  Thank you sooo much for taking the time to read my blog.

Maybe I should call it a Klog .... you know, like Karla and Blog together....

Just an idea,

COLGATE COUNTRY SHOWDOWN WINNER!

Wow wow wow! So, it's been a few days since I won the national final of the Colgate Country Showdown and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it.  #1 amazing fact: LeAnn Rimes touched my back and smiled in a picture with me...and she looked like she really wanted to be my friend.  Yes...that happened aaaand I have a picture to prove it.  haha, she was great. ...Darcy, thanks for the pictures! So I competed against 4 other acts from around the country and they were wonderful.  We were all so different, so I knew it was going to be a toss up for who would win.  My entire family was there and so many friends were there to support me...so THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!  I was the last performer so I was a little nervous, but once I started singing I was juuuuust fine.  I sang Keep Movin' On and Whiskey's Got a Job to do...and I guess the judges loved it because they decided to pick me to win.  Woooooot!  Now, people were crying, cheering, and, yes, my dad jumped up on his seat and screamed for his "baby girrrrl!!!" haha OOooh dad I love you!  The Showdown gave me some great exposure and a few labels were interested...so Gabrielle got meetings set up with them...so who knows what happens from here.  But, I do know that I am so blessed and this all just seems like such a dream.  PS - I haven't heard from Carrie Underwood yet...I mean, I was hoping for a phone call or maybe a house visit, but I guess she's just waiting because she thinks I'm probably busy.  Carrie, if you're reading this, feel free to come by anytime...I just bought a new pack of the EL Fudge Cookies and Double Stuffed Oreos...and we all know that everyone wants to be friends with someone with cookies.  Also, I have a new song called "Rocking Chair" that I am planning on recording and putting onto soul sessions this week...so stay tuned!!  Thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to send me messages about the showdown...I appreciate you all so much!

Things are looking UP!

Hey hey everyone!  So, here I am, sitting in my room listening to the GLEE soundtrack (yes, I did.) and I'm just thinking about how things have fallen into place for me.  I'm in Nashville and meeting all of the right people and it seems like everything is working out the way it is supposed to work out.

I do, however, have a new most embarrassing moment in life -- it happened about a month ago, I was in the bathroom at the gas station on the way to Atlanta, GA and, of course I was using the bathroom in my LOCKED bathroom stall.  Then, in comes a woman who seems like she is verrry ready to use the bathroom.  Next thing I know the lock on my door pops open and I freeze like a  dang deer in headlights--luckily I had an uncanny reaction and was able to cover my goodies in time...it was close -- and, what do you say???? I was like "ooooh, sorry, someone's in here...??"  And I was thinking afterwards...of course "someone" was in the stall...and why am I apologizing??? I was waaay more embarrassed than the woman that busted open the lock on my door.  It's just not right.  Not right.

Anyway, sorry, I just had to tell someone about it.  So, I'm getting ready for the National Final of the Colgate Country Showdown...and I'm already so excited about it.  It maaay be unhealthy that I am practicing everyday in front of my mirror figuring out the PERFECT choreography to be like a mix between Madonna and Colbie Caillat on stage.  Haaaahahahah, jooooking.  That would be hilarious though.  But really, I'm so excited about it...it's just so unreal that it's happening to ME.  I've come to find that not that many people get to do what they love in life--and I am so blessed to be here doing this...wooow, just such a blessing.

Okay, well...still haven't become best friends with Carrie Underwood.  So, if you have any ideas ...just let me know... it will happen one day.

Loving life and learning more and more about myself everyday!

KARLA DAVIS - NEWEST TAKAMINE ARTIST

Hey hey everyone,

Well, I am officially sponsored by Takamine.  I will be playing a new Limitied Edition 2009 model.  Woooow, still trying to grasp that one.  So many thanks to all the great people at Takamine for believing in me!

So I'm living in Nashville now and pursuing music.  I've gotten to meet so many awesome people and some really amazing songwriters.  I guess I will give you the rundown of my life right now--here goes...

I'm living in an apartment in Hendersonville, TN -- it's pretty nice buuuut I'm prrrretty sure that the people who lived here before left ooone little thing behind....a lot of pee from an animal.  I know, that is disgusting...but imagine living in an apartment that constantly smells like pee...it's awful.  At first I was blaming it all on Mimi (my midget puppy that is somewhat of a pee-a-holic...but it's not her.  Sorry Mimi.  So hopefully our apartment people will come and fix it.  Okay, so that's the only bad thing really.  Everything else is going really well.  I've been to a lot of open mics and everyone has been incredibly encouraging!  Right now I am writing a whole lot and doing a lot of demo work.

Good News - I'm not poor or starving....yet.

Bad News -  Carrie Underwood isn't my friend...YET!!!

Okay, so, that's it for now..........
